Comet 8/P Tuttle has joined Comet 17/P Holmes to make the night more jolly. Watch for this comet when it is the closest -- only about 37.8 million kilometers away. Since its discovery, this is its closest approach and it was the reason for the outburst of Ursids Meteor Shower on 22 December (See previous article on star gazing). This 5.8 magnitude object is easily identifiable from any dark sky site in Nepal. Find this comet in the Aries constellation. In the end of the December millions observed as it passed the triangulum spiral galaxy (M33). The comet was the last in the series of comet encounters of 2007 after Comet McNaught in early 2007 and Comet 17/P Holmes bursting in October 23rd. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! |
